Johann, the son of Peter FITSCHEN and Anna Metta MEYER was born on 25 February 1851 in Hedendorf Germany. The surname means “the way to get healthy” He came to South Africa in 1882. He died in Pietermaritzburg on 1 October 1946. He married a German woman Dorothea Marie Sophia LINDLOFF.
