RICHARDS, Henry

Having signed up with the Byrne Settler Scheme to Natal 1850, Henry Richards (born 1809), his pregnant wife Anne Elizabeth (born Scott 1814), and four daughters sailed from England on the “Minerva” in 1850.

During the voyage Anne gave birth to a son, Henry John.

Also on the ship was Henry's widower brother, Edward (born 1812), and his five children.

Henry died at Wentworth, Durban in 1852 and Anne died in Ladysmith in 1862.

RANDLE, James

Having signed up with the Byrne Settler Scheme to Natal, James Randle sailed from England on the “Minerva” in 1850.

He married the widowed Anne Elizabeth Richards (born Scott 1814) in Durban in 1853 and died in Pietermaritzburg in 1855. Anne died in Ladysmith in 1862.

Their children were:

 Elizabeth Pollett – born in Durban 1854, married Edward Sylvester Archer (1855-1925) in Wakkerstroom in1879 and died in Durban in 1925

Amelia Susanna – born Pietermaritzburg 1855, married Johannes (John) Vos (1838-1915) in Wakkerstroom in 1877 and died on farm Lands End near Charlestown in 1937

There are no male descendants from this marriage thus not a Progenitor.
